City commences with roadworks in Dunoon and Killarney Gardens

21 April 2023

The City of Cape Town’s Urban Mobility Directorate will be commencing with roadworks in the Dunoon and Killarney Gardens areas today, 21 April 2023, and will work towards completing the road maintenance over the next four weeks, weather permitting. The City asks that road users and businesses in these areas remain patient while the necessary roadworks are under way.

The roadworks is part of a planned maintenance programme and will entail the replacement of the existing road surface.

Work will take place at various times between Monday and Sunday, including night time work from 17:00 until 07:30.

The roadworks will take place along the following roads:

  • Sati Road from Potsdam Road to the cul de sac
  • Potsdam Road between Malibongwe Drive to Stables Way

'It is essential that the City resurfaces and maintains the quality of roads, especially in busy areas where main roads such as Potsdam Road carries a high number of vehicles daily. We have motivated that the contractor also works outside of the normal working hours and on weekends to reduce the impact on the road users during office hours and to complete the works sooner. We can therefore assure the businesses and residents in the Dunoon and Killarney Gardens area that our aim is to complete the work as efficiently as possible and thank them for their patience while work is under way,' said the City's Mayoral Committee Member for Urban Mobility, Councillor Rob Quintas.

Two-way traffic will be maintained as far as practically possible on both Sati Road and Potsdam Road. The City will ensure that no stop/go controls will be implemented during peak hour traffic.
